Exmouth Residents to Have Their Say on Regeneration Plans
Swan Housing Association is inviting residents on the Exmouth Estate in East London to share their views on its proposed redevelopment plans to transform the area, making it a better place to live, work and socialise, at a series of consultation events taking place from 8 -10 September (2020).
The Housing Association is in the process of creating a detailed plan to redevelop the area of the estate around Commercial Road to create 250 new homes alongside community facilities, such as new shops and green spaces, while also making environmental improvements.
To make sure that this plan best meets the needs of the community, Swan has been consulting with estate residents and local people since October 2019, including working alongside the Exmouth Residents’ Steering Group (ERSG) - a team of local residents who have been inputting to the design process.
Its second Public Consultation event - which will take place online from 8-10 September due to current Coronavirus restrictions on social gatherings - will gather residents’ feedback on detailed aspects of the plan such as building heights, outdoor space and commercial facilities.
Residents can learn more about the project on its website at exmouthresidents.co.uk where they can share their feedback using an online form. Three live consultation events with the project team, including Levitt Bernstein, the architects on the project, will take place on Tuesday 8 September at 11am, Wednesday 9 September at 4pm and Thursday 10 September at 6pm. There will be an opportunity for residents to submit and have their questions answered live by the architects and the project team.
All residents will also receive written copies of this information prior to the events, with details on how to feedback offline by completing an enclosed questionnaire that can be returned using a free post envelope provided.
Following further public consultation in November, Swan plans to submit a Planning Application to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in early 2021, with work due to start in 2022, subject to receiving planning approval for the scheme.
